Top 2026 Wedding Trends for Texas Weddings (From a Local Planner)

When you think about 2026 wedding trends in Texas, one thing is clear: weddings are becoming more personal, more energetic, and more rooted in faith and family than ever before. As a local North Texas planner, I’m seeing couples split down the middle with bookings in venues vs. churches - but continuing to use religious officiants and maintaining the traditional Christian Covenant.
Texas is big on faith & family. And 2026 couples are embracing both in meaningful, creative ways.
Here’s what I’m seeing (and loving!) for 2026:
Faith-forward ceremonies with religious officiants
Grandmothers as Flower Girls & Grandfathers as Ring Bearers
Higher energy receptions that feel like a true party
Outdoor weddings with more pizzaz and flamboyance
Bottle tosses instead of the traditional garter toss
Personalized branding like cattlehide crests
Pets included as flower girls and ring bearers
All-inclusive venue packages with one check, all amenities included
Let’s dive into the details.

2026 Wedding Trends Rooted in Faith & Family
Couples may be booking more venues than churches, but the heart of the ceremony is still deeply rooted in tradition. I’m seeing couples maintain the Traditional Christian Covenant while bringing family into the spotlight.
My personal favorite 2026 wedding trend? Grandmothers as Flower Girls and Grandfathers as Ring Bearers.
There is nothing sweeter than honoring generations in this way. Couples are also choosing customized gifts for parents and grandparents, and finding expressive ways to “ask” their bridal party to be part of the big day.
The result? A ceremony that feels deeply personal, meaningful, and uniquely theirs.
The Wedding Reception Is Now About the Party
Long gone are the soft, Mozart-dominated dinners.
The wedding reception has truly become about the “party!” Everything has become festive and unique to the couple. Higher energy. More entertainment. More expression.
We’re seeing:
Fringe dancing dresses for the reception
Pearl snap flannel shirts, shorts, or even jeans and tank tops as dance party attire
Mini-Highland cows and Mini-Donkeys delivering beer and snacks
Pets stepping into flower girl and ring bearer roles
The Big Day is much more original than before. Couples are inserting their own take, their own ideas, and putting their own spin on what they want their day to look like.
And in Texas? Bigger really is better.

Outdoor Wedding Trends in Texas
Let’s get outdoors!
Outdoor weddings have always existed in Texas. Now they exist with much more pizzaz and flamboyance.
We’re seeing:
Lights, flowers, arbors and arches
Hanging materials, runners and ribbons
Sparks and fireworks
Fields, pastures, ponds and waterfall backdrops
Texas landscapes are becoming part of the design itself.
And one uniquely Texas trend I’m loving? Cowhide branding or creating a new family “brand” or “crest” incorporated into the ceremony.
It’s Western Romance with a modern twist.

2026 Wedding Trends Couples Should Consider Carefully
The season matters.
North Texas weather is very unpredictable. If you’re planning an outdoor wedding, choose a venue that can quickly accommodate a ceremony change from outdoors to indoors - or one that allows flexibility with date changes reserved ahead of time.
Another major shift I’m seeing? All-inclusive packages.
All-inclusive packages are now being offered by Stag & Dove in partnership with venue owners. Couples are able to write one check and get all the amenities included: a planner and ALL the vendors - a true one stop shop. If you'd like to read more about our services, click here.
Couples love being able to simplify the process. When vendors already work in harmony with the planner and venue owner, there is chemistry. That affords a more efficient, smooth and fluid day. Everyone already knows each other and works well together.
In 2026, efficiency is a trend too!
A Very Texas Twist: The Rise of the Bottle Toss
Texas is known for great whiskey and great wine, among other things. And one of the wedding trends gaining traction right now? In lieu of the traditional “garter toss,” couples are turning to a “bottle toss.”
So what is a bottle toss?
Instead of removing a garter from under the bride’s dress and tossing it to the crowd, the groom (or couple) tosses a wrapped bottle of whiskey, bourbon, or wine to a group of single guests. Whoever catches it keeps the bottle, and sometimes the “next to marry” tradition still follows.
I love this shift.
No parent (or audience) wants to see a garter removed from under the bride’s dress. I love the turn to modesty, and the creativity that comes with it. A beautifully wrapped bottle of whiskey or wine feels fun, celebratory, and far more aligned with today’s couples.
It’s still interactive. It’s still entertaining. But it feels elevated and respectful.
And in Texas? It just fits.
How 2026 Couples Are Approaching Weddings Differently
Couples are much more involved in the details of the wedding.
They want:
More entertainment
More fun
More energy
More favors
More customized gifts
More expressive personalization
Couples are even personalizing the smaller, often overlooked moments - from coordinated “getting ready” outfits for bridal party members to custom photobooth photo edging, personalization, and handheld cutouts that reflect inside jokes or family traditions. I’m also seeing personalized song lyrics woven into ceremonies and receptions, turning music into something that feels uniquely theirs.
The 2026 couple will more than likely carry out a completely customized wedding.
This is the era of intention.
Timeless Texas Style Heading Into This Year
Texas brides are known for many things - but the common theme? It’s always bigger in Texas.
More is More is definitely “in” now… “In with the Old, and In with the New!”
While couples are choosing eclectic and unique styles, most Texas weddings still fall under the Western Romance genre. It’s a blend of heritage and modern design, and it’s here to stay.

Where I Tell My Couples to Focus
If a couple planning a 2026 Texas wedding asked me where to focus their energy, I’d say one thing first:
The Budget.
It's so important to begin the process with an understanding of how much you are prepared to financially invest in your wedding, and do not deviate. Be prepared to make some serious sacrifices and learn to compromise.
Create your financial charts and take the time to find the people that can offer the services you need within your budget. Or better yet - find the planner to help you accomplish your goals!
