Music to get Married to

5 Tunes selected and reviewed by George Demure George Demure is the stylish pioneer of ‘electro-croon’, a new genre sweeping across London. He wed his fashioner designer partner Laura Lees in Las Vegas in 2003. Here he shares the tunes that fuelled their union of lurve.
1. Gram Parsons - ‘Oooh, Las Vegas’
This has very special memories. It’s a country ode to the place where we secretly tied the knot. Yes, Laura Lees and I eloped to Vegas. Gram and Emmylou Harris sing a tale about the hopeless appeal of this gambling mecca whilst the musicians kick the shit out of the barn door.
2. Pink Floyd - ’Crumbling Land’
This magnificent song can only be found on Bertolluccis' ‘Zabriskie Point’ soundtrack. With big 4-part harmonies ‘Crumbling Land’ was the perfect soundtrack to our honeymoon in San Franciso and then our journey home. Oh, the romance of it all.
3. The Fall - ‘Craigness’
The interim between our elope and the celebrations was soundtracked by this record. Mark E Smith exudes a gentle delivery before an outburst of a guttural scream which has everybody bouncing around like a cat in a sack.
4./5. The Sparks ‘No.1 Song In Heaven’ & Elvis Presley ‘Suspicious Minds’
Naturally, we had to celebrate with these two classics. This Spark’s hi-nrg opus can get even the most uptight behind spinning, And a live version of ‘Suspicious Minds’ will always remind me of that sweaty look of joy on everyone’s faces, while they’re still just about sober enough to remain standing.
