Single of the week

The Juan Maclean - 'Happy House' (DFA)

Already plugged a few weeks back, we couldn't resist making this new track by New York's revered The Juan Maclean our single of the week.

'Happy House' does what it says-on-the-tin, and we defy anyone not to like the hands-in-the-air original, let alone the impressive package of remixes by Prince Language and Lee Douglas.

Expect this to be a club smash from the beaches in Ibiza to back room pubs in Dalston - finally, a reminder of what dance music is all about.

Stag choice

Best of the rest:

The Count & Sinden 'Beeper' (Domino) - Herve Sinden's biggest banger yet!

Four Tet 'Ringer' (Domino) - More genius action from the great Keiran Hebden.

Nufrequency 'Go That Deep' - Shara Nelson gets on the vocals for this dancefloor killer.

Album of the week

Horace Andy - 'On Tour' (Universal)

horaceThe distinguished Jamaican vocalist Horace Andy is proving that his talent is far from dwindling.
Now at almost 60, Andy has delivered yet another artist album.

Although more polished in style from his earlier works, such as the infamous tracks 'Skylarking' and 'Government Land', the new album 'On Tour' showcases Horace's falsetto vocals, his commitment to roots reggae and his ability to embrace modern production.

The new tracks stand testament to this with the anthemic roots fiesta 'Zion High', warming floor wiggler 'Chained To My Heart' and soon-to-be summer classic 'Don't Break My Heart'.

Incredibly - where other record labels sign up hip production talent to assist PR and boost sales - Trojan Records have allowed Andy to not only produce the whole record himself but play the majority of the instruments himself too.

Unusual and authentic. this is a must-have album for music lovers everywhere.

Dove Choice

Best of the rest:

Aphex Twin 'Selected Ambient Works 85-92' (R&S) - Re-issue of one of the greatest albums ever made.

The Long Blondes 'Couples' - At last, the much awaited second album.

Various - 'New Orleans Funk 2' (Soul Jazz) - New Orleans funk just got funkier. '

MUSIC TO TAKE YOUR KIT OFF TO

john and jen

John & Jen are a French duo that are very much in love. Now based in London, they are about to release their debut album, ingeniously recorded in two parts 'Side John' and 'Side Jen'.( See our Member's Offers page and win entry to their album launch party on April 23rd.)

Here they share with us the tunes that they like to get their kit off to.

1. Gunclub - 'Sex Beat'

This song is perfect bluesy garage genius which if played super loud will make you take your clothes off and dance like hell - at home in the kitchen or out in a club - drunk or not! We have done this on several occasions. It always makes us laugh, if not slightly embarrassed the following day.

2. Liars - 'Broken Witch'

Every song on this Liars' album 'They Were Wrong So We Drowned' deserves some nudity it's that good.
We have found that losing your clothes is the best way to get into this band's music quicker. Trust us on that one. What are you waiting for?

3. John Coltrane - 'Love Supreme'

'A Love Supreme" by the legend that is John Coltrane is one for helping along the female orgasm - boys take note. Jen has come often to this track. But this can also include men also, if they are into this tune. Have a go, you might be surprised.

4. The Who - 'Baba O' Riley'

There's nothing for it when you hear this song but to get naked on your bed, alone in your room, and jump as high as you can - bouncing on the mattress, releasing the 5 year-old that's been lost within.
You'll probably fly for real. We sure have done.

iggy5. The Stooges - 'No Fun'

Well Iggy Pop is all about nudity, that's for sure. And you just have to follow the master.

This track, 'No Fun', can inspire you to get your kit off at a plethora of occasions: dancing, washing, loving - all of which in no particular order. Just take your clothes off!
