SINGLE OF THE WEEK

metro area 7Metro Area - 'Metro Area 7' (Environ)

At last, those New York Italo-disco funksters are back with their ingeniously entitled 'Metro Area 7'. If you can't work out the titles of the previous six releases the we suggest you go stick your head in the oven.

Metro Area are Darshan Jesrani and Morgan Geist, and their identifiable electric disco sound has won over ardent music fans all over the globe. B-side 'Read My Mind', featuring vocals by Philip Owuso, is the winning track.

BEST OF THE REST

Nick Holder - 'Time' (NRK) - Old timer Canadian Nick Holder is back with another house attack!

Lopazz - '2 Fast 4 You' (Get Physical) - Berlin's GP label turns out another deep house stormer.

ALBUM OF THE WEEK
dubVarious - 'Box of Dub 2' (Soul Jazz)

Soul Jazz Records are continually embracing innovative music and have a knack for putting together nifty compilations. But the 'Box of Dub' series is unique - all the material included has been exclusively recorded.

The Dubstep scene is still a burgeoning one, but a scene that is stepping up to what will soon be a world invasion. Once a fan, you will be locked into a whole sub-culture of white labels and online forums.

The first in the series 'Box of Dub' hit critical acclaim with contributions by Digital Mystikz, Skream Kode 9 and Pinch. This second installment once again shows the influence that dub pioneers King Tubby, Scientist and King Jammys have had on the artists featured on this album.

For Dubstep virgins, this scene emerged from South London and boasts a distinct UK urban sound that possesses heavy basslines, complicated drum patterns with a grateful nod to Jamaican dub.

MUSIC TO... GET YOUR BODY TINGLING

kaskadeUS house DJ/producer Kaskade, whose mix album 'Bring The Night' was released on Ultra Records last month, shares with us the tunes which get your body tingling.

1.Carmina Burana - 'O Fortuna'

I was in choir in High School and we sang this song the year I graduated. We rehearsed the entire year to be able to perform it for everyone. With all that rehearsing this song is etched in my brain forever.

2.Steve Hurley - 'Jack Your Body'

I can remember hearing this and knowing that house music was here to stay. The track is so raw but to this day makes me want to move. The late 80’s in Chicago were the best and I feel privileged to have witnessed it. J-J-J-J-J-Jack Yo Body.

3.The Smiths - 'Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want'

It can’t be sunshine all the time and Morrissey was there to console me when I was down. I might possibly know all the lyrics to the first few Smiths albums.

4.The Police 'Don’t Stand So Close To Me'

My two older brothers played a lot of Police in my house when I was growing up and I am sure it changed me somehow. Sting is one of the best songwriters ever. It always comes out honest and true when he sings it.

daft punk5.Daft Punk - 'Da Funk'

This French duo took something and made it their own. They reinvented the house sound and captivated a generation and made me a believer for a second time.
